Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 29, 2026
Buffin is an app in development. Right now, this website only runs a waitlist. This page explains what we collect when you join it, why, and what you can ask us to do with it.
What we collect
- Your email address, so we can tell you when Buffin launches and, as explained below, show you Buffin ads.
- Your optional answers: how many friends are in your squad, their first names if you choose to type them, and whether you'd consider Squad Plus at the price shown to you. Nothing is charged.
- How you found us: the campaign tags in the link you clicked (for example, "tiktok"), the website that sent you, and the squad link of the friend who invited you, if any.
- Anonymous visit counts: when someone opens the page, we count the visit and its source, with no name, email or device identifier attached.
This page saves a small note in your browser (which Squad Plus price you saw and your squad link) so things stay the same when you come back. We don't use advertising cookies on this page today. If we add ad measurement tools (like the Meta or TikTok pixel) later, we will update this policy before turning them on.
How we use it
- To send you a confirmation with your squad link when you join, and to email you about Buffin's launch and, rarely, important updates about the app.
- To understand which videos and ads bring people in and whether people want to use Buffin with friends.
- To show you how many friends joined with your squad link.
- To show Buffin ads, as explained below.
We never sell your information and we never share it for other companies' advertising.
Buffin ads on Meta and TikTok
We may upload a hashed (scrambled) copy of your email address to Meta (Facebook and Instagram) and TikTok. They use it only to match it to an existing account, and then we can:
- show you Buffin news and the launch in your feed,
- stop showing you "join the waitlist" ads you no longer need,
- find other people with similar interests ("lookalike" audiences), without them seeing who you are.
We only share your email, never your answers, your squad or your friends' names. Meta and TikTok delete hashes that don't match an account. Buffin ads are aimed at adults (18+). Under some U.S. state laws (like California's), this can count as "sharing" for advertising: you can opt out at any time by emailing contact@buffinapp.com with "opt out", and we'll remove you from these ad audiences.
Who helps us run this
The waitlist is stored with Supabase (database), emails are sent with Resend, the website is hosted by Cloudflare, and the fonts load from Google Fonts. These providers process data only to run the service for us. Meta and TikTok receive hashed emails only for the Buffin ads described above.
How long we keep it
We keep your waitlist information until Buffin launches and for up to 12 months after, or until you ask us to delete it, whichever comes first. If Buffin doesn't launch, we delete the list.
Your choices
- The confirmation you get when you join is a one-time email. Launch and update emails have an unsubscribe link, and you can stop all emails anytime by writing to contact@buffinapp.com.
- You can opt out of Buffin ad audiences on Meta and TikTok by emailing contact@buffinapp.com.
- You can ask us to see, correct or delete your information at any time by emailing contact@buffinapp.com. We'll reply within 30 days.
- If you live in a U.S. state with a privacy law (like California), you have these rights too, and we won't treat you differently for using them.
Age
Buffin is for people 13 and older. We don't knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 joined the waitlist, email us and we'll delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If the change is significant, we'll tell people on the waitlist by email.
